Definitely not the most appetizing title for a recipe blog post, but I promise you this green, lumpy mess is a much beloved nacho dip in my household!
The inspiration for this particular Frightening Fare came straight off of Pinterest. There you will find all sorts of sickly pumpkins spewing an assortment of foods. They are all hysterical to look at and simply begging to be replicated!
Feel free to adapt any of the recipes I post to the tastes of your family!
(aka guacamole – serves 4-6)
2-3 ripe avocados
1 ripe Roma tomato
handful of fresh cilantro (or to taste)
1 clove of garlic (minced)
juice of half a lime (or to taste)
dash of black pepper (or to taste)
dash of onion powder (or to taste)
1 tablespoon of fresh salsa (this is my secret ingredient)
mash avocados until creamy, but still a little chunky
finely chop the leaves of the fresh cilantro
combine all ingredients in a bowl
arrange on a plate with the carved pumpkin and serve with tortilla chips
Tips for Carving the Pumpkin

Of course, the face of the pumpkin is the main attraction. Last year, when I made this for our annual Halloween soirée, I carved the standard jack-o-lantern triangle eyes and round mouth. It looked great, but this year I went with a more nauseated expression and the resulting gross-out effect was totally on target.
For this set of recipe pages I used two products from my shoppe:
