Project Album: Las Vegas (Retro Style)!

In September 2012 my husband and I celebrated our 10th wedding anniversary with a short, but sweet trip to Las Vegas, Nevada.  In between dodging the desert heat with visits to many of the infamous hotel-casinos on and off the main strip, we also arranged a hilarious (and surprisingly heartwarming) Elvis-as-Officiant vow renewal service for just the two of us.

Focusing more on enjoying the experience rather than being distracted with capturing it on film, our 3 days of Vegas fun ended with a relatively small collection of photos.  While I’ve taken a crack at scrapping some of the highlights from this little adventure in the recent past (gallery links here & here), this month I will be gathering up all my favourites and, as the weeks unfold, assembling those treasured memories into an album.

Inspired by our wonderfully vintage vow renewal, this album is getting the full retro treatment.  How retro?  Think dusty, blurry, crooked, desaturated family vacation snaps circa the mid 1960s – a time period when amateur photography ruled and the perfectly curated and filtered Instagram photo was little more than a futuristic fantasy.

To help me get this album up and running, I created two new packs –> both are on sale for 30% off this month in my shoppe:

The Still Life Collection: White Space 12×12 Album is a clean, sophisticated and exceptionally versatile frame doodled quick page album that has made scrapping my Vegas photos quick & easy.

The first product from my newest collection – Estate Sale – the The Estate Sale Collection: Some Assembly Required 12×12 Overlays Vol 1 is what I’m using to help give my full-page photos a retro inspired look.

This month my blog will be filled with tons of retro fun, including a tutorial, a retro recipe, a freebie + a challenge & prizes, new Estate Sale Collection product announcements and more reveals of my Las Vegas album.

Detailed guidance coming soon!

Up next: a series of tips + a step-by-step tutorial that will show you how I’m using Adobe Lightroom 4.4, Photoshop Elements 9 and different combinations of the Estate Sale Collection: Some Assembly Required 12×12 Overlays Vol 1 to transform my modern Las Vegas photos into retro classics.
